As you sing in chest voice, imagine the sound coming out of your chest rather than your mouth to help you sing the lower notes. If you have trouble singing this low, you can slide up to the note. Pretend the note you’re about to sing is actually lower and slide between all the pitches until you get up to the note. By pretending that the actual note is lower, you’ll likely add more chest voice or more thickness to the tone instead of encouraging more head voice or a lighter sound, which is what happens when you pretend you’re going down to the note. You can also try speaking really low to see if you can speak on the low pitch. Many singers don’t think they can sing a particularly low note, but when they try to speak it, they realize that they can speak quite low. For example, say nah on a low pitch and notice the sensation. If you can speak the low sound, you can sing it, too.
